Sniff, Cough...

Rumors of my demise are greatly exagerated, but at the same time, getting out from under this cold has taken a lot longer than I'd hoped. Missed six days of work, and for me that is A LOT.  I'm almost certain this ISN'T the avian flu....

Promise to get back into the blogging biz here shortly, but will I'll likely still be on the quiet side for the next week or so...

I'm very psyched to see all the Ubie and other posts here also...highly cool...

dead to the world

Hey everbody:

If I've been quiet it's due to a cold just miserable enough to knock me out from Saturday till yesterday...after sleepwalking through work today I do feel a bit better...but man, being sick where you just sleep for 4 days straight is no fun....  I don't often get sick but when I do it is with a cold like this, and yes, Cammy was patient zero, bringing home some odd pre-school bug that neither Laura nor I had seen since we were 2 probably.

The one --maybe the only--good thing about being out like that but not REALLY seriously ill, is that you get a chance to just exit the world for a bit and let it go on without you for a spell. Kinda like fasting from life for just enough to see how it really didn't all depend on you.

Maybe that is the opposite of George Bailey's epiphany, but it works for me.  One of my friends in a recovery group would say "let go and let God." I'd say something like it is good every so often for me "to be still and know I am NOT God."

But am glad to be (mostly) back among the living, and love all the new posts on the blog while I've been out...

I'll try to chime in more tomorrow, only slightly on Dayquil.

Thinking over Blogging Best Practices...

On the mailing list Eric and Kayla brought up some good questions and thoughts on blogging... -- what type of communication works best at a blog vs mailing lists etc, how to open the blog up to additional authors, and what guidelines or best practices there should be for posting or commenting on blogs --  and I figure the blog itself could be a good place for them... Use the "comments" link below to chime in.

Welcome to everybody:

This is a brand new blog for the Tribe Church in LA,  just kicked off this week to be in time to help capture some of the details of Tribe's involvement at Burning Man.

Jimmy5 did a great job setting up design and other parts of the blog, and we hope he can do some remote blogging from the Playa...and here is where we will post pictures and stories from "Playa con Dios..." And after folks are back you should see a lot of different postings from folks who want to...and everyone can begin adding their additions to the blog via comments and open threads that we'll set up.

It is a work in progress, and we hope you find it a good on line place to spend some time, join in conversation, and bring up ways it could be better. Like all blogs, it really isn't meant to be a monologue -- it should be a dialog at least, at a better analogy might be that of a multi part chorus or jazz band... Chime in, improv here.

We'll be adding more photos, lists of books and music you all recommend, and lots more.

Hard to predict what this blog will morph into, but let's all find out together...
